Over the last year we have been casting vision for a new church plant in NW OKC, as we gathered a small community of people who wanted to work together to see God reconcile » redeem » restore in this city. Since January we have been gathering regularly, engaging the city, and praying for God's leading forward. As we looked toward the fall, we expected that we would take a major step forward, starting to function more fully as a church, and looking to publicly launch in early 2014.
But sometimes God surprises us.
While we were praying about next steps, some very interesting things started happening, and it quickly became clear God was leading us in a direction none of us expected. Instead of taking a step forward this fall, we are hitting the 'pause' button. What has become apparent is that now isn't the time to start this new church. Whether or not God restarts the process, is up to him, and we will seek to be faithful to his leading.
In all this, not much changes for our community. We are still gathering regularly as a community, asking God to reconcile » redeem » restore in NW OKC, and engaging the city with the Gospel. However, instead of working to start a new church, we are rolling into Frontline Church for a season at least, and serving under their leadership.
We are very excited about the future. God is clearly at work, leading and guiding us as a community into this new season. No matter what, we know he will reconcile, he will redeem, and he will restore. And in that we rest.
Soli Deo Gloria
